We are super excited for the Paint Your Spot Day. Check-in starts at 8:00 am. We will have music and a food truck to add to the day of family fun! A couple of tips from last year that might be helpful in making the day more comfortable.
- It gets very hot on the blacktop. Bring shade if you can!
- Bring lots of water to drink – we had a couple kids get heat stroke last year.
- Bring chairs.
- Protection for your knees and hands from the hot pavement is huge! A yoga mat, cardboard, volleyball or construction knee pads etc… will be your saviors!
- EAT!!!! Last years we learned that it takes all day to complete the project and many people were fading out from the heat and their hunger. This year – we’ll have a super yummy food truck to provide the much needed energy pickup. The truck is State Fair inspired and will be serving up hand dipped corn dogs, fresh squeezed lemonade, hand scooped ice cream, kettle corn and funnel cakes. Please support them if you can! They are donating a good percentage back to the class of 2020 and the food is so good!!!
Please be sure to review the contract as a reminder as to what types of paints etc are allowed and other important details. Students must have their contracts and sketches in and approved to participate. There are no exceptions.
Unfortunately last year we had one car drive through the barrier and parked in a senior’s spot at about 4am. The driver was found before painting began and the student didn’t miss a beat. The parent however caused a major scene and we had to involve outside resources to get the situation under control. Lesson learned and please read below:
WE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO SECURE THE PARKING LOT TO KEEP A RANDOM CAR FROM PARKING IN A SENIOR SPOT SUNDAY MORNING. IF SOMEONE STILL FINDS A WAY, PLEASE KNOW WE WILL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO FIND THEM AND HAVE THEM MOVE THEIR CAR. PATIENCE AND KINDNESS AND RESPECT TO THE VOLUNTEERS IS EXPECTED IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN. ANY ATTACK ON A VOLUNTEER OR ADMIN WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF SENIOR PARKING PRIVILEGES.
